Experience the tantalising fusion of Taiwanese flavours and the excellence of South Australian wine at this intimate Melbourne CBD wine dinner.

Celebrate the Taiwan Film Festival in Melbourne with a captivating menu that harmonises Taiwanese influences with outstanding Australian produce, promising a culinary journey like no other.

This exclusive event is co-hosted by the Liu family-owned Ubertas Winery from the prestigious Barossa Valley, whose Taiwanese roots add a personal touch to the event.

Each course from Miss Mi Melbourne’s new Executive Chef, Migo Razon, pairs with one of Ubertas’ finest wines, highlighting their dedication to quality and minimal intervention in winemaking.

ABOUT THE MENU

Firstly, the multi-course, share-style menu introduces the intricate 2021 Single Vineyard Chardonnay, with notes of pineapple and melon, complementing a trio of starters. Indulge in Coffin Bay South Australian oyster with black vinegar mignonette, braised Bungalow New South Wales pork belly infused with shiitake mushroom, and Sunshine Coast Mooloolaba prawn toast served with fire-roasted capsicum purée —a symphony of textures and flavours.

Secondly, moving on to the 2021 Barossa Valley Merlot showcasing dark plum and red cherry flavours, guests will savour house-made wagyu dumplings in bone broth and Victorian Moorabool Valley roast duck breast adorned with a honey Sichuan pepper glaze – a testament to Chef Migo’s mastery in blending Asian aromatics with premium Australian ingredients.

Then afterwards, the highlight of the evening is the 2020 Project D Shiraz. Crafted from 50+ year old vines and made with traditional open top fermentation, this elegant wine is perfectly paired with a 72-hour slow cooked Margra New South Wales lamb belly featuring five spice and a tantalising Wu Yin gastrique. Margra Lamb features a silky micro-marbled finish and low fat melting point of 28-35°C (82.4-95°F), producing a delicate meat that is incredibly succulent. During the evening, Kevin Liu from Ubertas Wines and Chef Migo will talk guests through each course and wine pairing, with the event culminating in a decadent dessert

Menu is subject to change.

Filipino-born Migo Razon is Miss Mi Melbourne’s talented new Executive Chef. An alumnus of the Centre for Culinary Arts in Manila, Chef Migo’s career spans some of Australia’s finest restaurants, hotels and resorts including working with celebrity chef Adrian Richardson to open the highly anticipated Maestro Restaurant in Geelong.

Kevin Liu | Ubertas Wines

Kevin comes from a family involved in rice farming in Taiwan, but despite his agricultural roots, he pursued an education in engineering and marketing, completing his master’s degree in Marketing at University of South Australia in 2012. Since then, he has moved into running Ubertas Wines alongside his brother Philip who holds a Masters in Oenology (winemaking) from University of Adelaide.

ABOUT UBERTAS WINES

Philip and Kevin Liu have had an interesting journey from growing up in a farm family in Taiwan to becoming winemakers in Australia. Previously, the entire family made the life-changing decision to migrate to Australia in the early 2000s, drawn by the allure of the “Australian dream”. At Ubertas Wines, the brothers’ passion for sustainable farming and commitment to minimal intervention in winemaking is what drives their winemaking ethos. By intervening minimally in the winemaking process, the inherent characteristics of the grapes and the unique terroir shine through in the final product. As a result, this deep connection with the land and commitment to sustainable practices have produced some truly fine and uniquely South Australian wines.
