Miss Mi Melbourne is thrilled to share some exciting news: our Executive Chef, Migo Razon, has been named a Finalist in the Chef of the Year category at the 2026 Victorian Accommodation Awards. It’s a well-deserved nod to a chef whose bold, balanced take on Southeast Asian cuisine has become the beating heart of our Melbourne CBD restaurant and bar.
The Victorian Accommodation Awards celebrate the very best in the state’s hotel and hospitality industry, with the Chef of the Year category recognising culinary talent for skill, professionalism, industry knowledge and contribution to the hospitality community.
Finalists are selected following a rigorous judging process, including a review of each nominee’s experience and an in-depth interview, making Migo’s place among this year’s Finalists an outstanding achievement.
The winner will be announced live at the Victorian Accommodation Awards gala on 20 August 2026, and the Miss Mi Melbourne team will be cheering Migo on every step of the way.
Since joining Miss Mi Melbourne as Executive Chef, Migo Razon has brought a wealth of experience and a deeply personal cooking philosophy to our Southeast Asian-inspired menu.
Raised in Makati, Manila, Migo’s love of food began in his family’s kitchen as a child, and it’s a passion that has carried him through kitchens across Australia… from Bonville Golf Resort in Coffs Harbour to Executive Chef roles at DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne and Sheraton Melbourne Hotel, and collaborating with acclaimed chef Adrian Richardson on Geelong restaurant Maestro.
At Miss Mi, Migo draws on flavours from across the region – Singapore, Laos, Myanmar and his native Philippines – layering sweet, salty, sour and spicy notes into every dish, all while championing the growing wave of Filipino cuisine making its mark on Melbourne’s dining scene.
We caught up with Migo to hear his reaction to the news:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be named a Finalist for Chef of the Year. This means so much to me, not just as a personal milestone, but as recognition for the whole kitchen team at Miss Mi who bring our menu to life every single service. Being able to represent Southeast Asian flavours on a stage like this is something I’m incredibly proud of, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes us on the night.”

Miss Mi Melbourne General Manager Sophie Blondeau shared her pride in Migo’s Finalist nomination:
“Migo pours so much heart, discipline and creativity into everything he creates for our guests, and this Finalist nomination is a true reflection of that. He’s not only an exceptional chef, but a natural leader in our kitchen, and it’s fantastic to see his talent recognised by the Victorian Accommodation Awards. Whatever happens on the night, we couldn’t be prouder to have him at the helm of Miss Mi Melbourne.”
